Terms of Engagement

Last updated: 1 September 2026

1. Scope of services

Tehkikaat Private Limited provides lawful private investigation services in India. Each engagement is defined by a written scope and quotation issued after the initial consultation. Work begins only after the scope is accepted and the agreed retainer is received.

2. Lawful conduct

All investigations are conducted strictly within the framework of Indian law. We do not undertake, and will refuse, any assignment requiring telephone interception, unauthorised access to computer systems or accounts, trespass, impersonation of public officials, harassment, or any other unlawful act. Requests for such services will be declined regardless of fee offered.

3. Client obligations

The client warrants that the information provided to us is truthful, that they have a legitimate interest in the matter being investigated, and that our findings will be used only for lawful purposes such as personal decision-making, legal proceedings, or corporate governance. Misuse of findings for harassment, extortion or unlawful ends terminates the engagement immediately.

4. Fees and payment

Fees are quoted in writing per engagement — fixed for verification services, per-day for surveillance deployments, and milestone-based for complex investigations. A retainer of 50% is payable in advance unless otherwise agreed, with the balance due on delivery of the final report. Out-of-station expenses are billed at actuals with prior approval. Fees are for the professional investigation, not for any particular outcome.

5. Reports and findings

Findings are delivered as a written report with supporting evidence. We report facts as established by evidence; we do not tailor findings to expectations. Where evidence is inconclusive, the report says so. Reports are prepared for the client alone and may not be published or circulated beyond legal proceedings without our written consent.

6. Confidentiality

We keep the client’s identity, the existence of the engagement and all findings confidential, per our Privacy Policy and the engagement agreement. The client agrees to keep our investigative methods, personnel identities and internal processes confidential in turn.

7. Limitation of liability

Our liability under any engagement is limited to the professional fees paid for that engagement. We are not liable for decisions taken by the client on the basis of our findings, nor for outcomes of legal proceedings in which our reports are used.

8. Governing law

These terms and every engagement are governed by the laws of India, with exclusive jurisdiction of the courts at New Delhi.
